The senate has rejected Ahmed Mahmud as nominee for the position of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Resident Electoral Commissioner, representing Zamfara state.

Two senators from Zamfara rejected Mahmud on the grounds that he is from Sokoto state.

The upper chamber however approved approved the nomination of Ambassador Rufus Akeju (Lagos) and Dr. Mahmuda Isah (Kebbi).

The Senate, however, approved the nomination of Ambassador Rufus Akeju (Lagos) and Dr. Mahmuda Isah (Kebbi) as Resident Electoral Commissioners of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
