Felix Egbe Egot, a 24-year-old student of the Cross River State University of Technology, CRUTECH was murdered on Thursday while celebrating the cultural week.
On the ground sources in the institution say the deceased was killed in front of the Students Union Government, SUG, Secretariat, suffering gruesome matched cuts to the neck, after he was reportedly shot at close range.
Sporadic gunshots followed as pandemonium took over with several staff and students running for their lives. We further gathered that the Senate of the institution was meeting at the time of this incident, while a vehicle loaded with security personal sat idle at the gate.
The victim’s father is a Deputy Superintendent of Police, DSP, serving in Abakiliki, Ebonyi State, while his mother, a customs officer, serving in Akwa Ibom State, is separated from the victim’s father.
Usually, after incidents like this occur, there are likelihoods of reprisals from warring factions.
