The Cross River state house of assembly has given approval for local government councils in the state to contribute 50 million naira each towards the fight against coronavirus
This was done following a letter sent to the house by secretary to the state government Tina Agbor, who noted that the money which will amount to 900 million naira, was needed to effectively pursue the implementation of measures that would curb the spread of the pandemic
The state lawmakers also granted approval to the request that 18 local government councils in the state contribute 250 million naira each toward the purchase of commercial aircraft for cross river state and for the construction of Obudu international passenger/cargo airport.
Correspondent Mary Adie reports that the house of assembly also confirm the appointment of chairman and members of cross river state local government commission and forestry service commission, as well as Comrade John Odey as the auditor general of the state.
