The 13 Brigade Commander, Akim Barracks Calabar, Brigadier General Mohammed Abdullahi, on Wednesday handed over 2 suspects to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons NAPTIP, for alleged human trafficking and operation of a baby factory, at Anantigha, Calabar South.
Speaking during the handing over event held at the 13 Brigade Barracks, the Officer Commanding 13 Brigade Provost Company, Major Stanley Ikpeme who represented the 13 Brigade Commander, also handed over 24 women and 11 children who were rescued by Operation Akpakwu, to the Head of Operation of NAPTIP in the state.
Speaking in an interview with journalists, the Head of Operation of NAPTIP in the state, Oba Jacob, who assured that the victims will be rehabilitated and reintegrated into the society, stressed that the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Our correspondent reports that the suspects denied any involvement in the crimes, while the victims also denied knowing the suspects.
