Dredging Of Calabar Deep Seaport Will Reduce Unemployment – Ekong Okpa

A public affairs commentator Ekong Okpa says the alarming rate of unemployment, poverty and high level of criminality ravaging the south-south region could be reduced with the dredging of the Calabar international sea port.

Speaking with our correspondent on Monday, the public affairs commentator said the inability of the federal government to dredge the link canal which navigates the port has gone a long way to cripple economic and maritime activities in the region and has defeated the purpose for which Calabar was declared a credible location for a free trade zone.

He added that the dredging will decongest other seaports in the country and reduce criminal activities around the waterways
