CROSS RIVER STATE GOVERNOR APPOINTS ITA-GIWA AMBASSADOR FOR STATE’S INDUSTRIAL PROJECTS

The Governor of Cross River State, Ben Ayade has approved the appointment of Senator Florence Ita-Giwa as Ambassador for the State’s Industrial Projects.

A statement signed by the Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the governor said the appointment is with immediate effect.

Florence Ita-Giwa was elected Senator for the Cross River Southern senatorial district in April 1999 and was appointed to committees on Rules and Procedures, Environment, Foreign Affairs, Women, Niger Delta and Drug & Narcotics.

AYADE’S DEFECTION DID NOT COME AS A SURPRISE – C’RIVER PDP STAKEHOLDERS

The Cross river State People’s Democratic Party, PDP, Stakeholders’ Forum has affirmed that the state remains a PDP state, saying the defection of Governor Ayade from the Party to the All Progressives Congress, APC, did not come as a surprise.

This follows a news conference held by Senator Liyel Imoke, the state National Assembly PDP Caucus, and other Stakeholders restating the Party’s firmness in Cross River State.

The Forum, in a statement issued on Friday, wished Ayade well in his new found adventure, and noted that the people of Cross river State who have stood firmly with the PDP since 1999 are deeply disappointed by the move.

While noting that the Cross River State governor has won all his elections under the platform of the party, given the overwhelming support that he enjoyed, the Forum said all stakeholders of the PDP in the state from the National Assembly to the grass root mobilizers, remain virile, strong and uncracked.

PDP  CHARGES MEMBERS CROSS RIVER STATE TO REMAIN STEADFAST, COMMITTED AND UNITED.

The People’s Democratic Party, PDP has charged its members in Cross River to remain steadfast, committed and united to the party.

The PDP, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, called on stakeholders to ensure the party structure remains intact.

The Party also wished Governor Ayade well in his new political sojourn and in his future endeavors.

MEANWHILE, Cross River State governor, Ben Ayade has hinted that more governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, will leave the opposition party for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The governor, who disclosed this on Thursday’s Edition of Channels Television’s Politics Today, said very soon, more governors will join the APC, however, denied the claim that he moved to the ruling party after he suffered a huge loss at the recent PDP congress held in his state.

In the meantime, a Legal Practitioner and Social Commentator, Enome Amatey says there is need for a constitutional amendment to curb the incessant defections of active political-office holders.

This follows the defection of the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, from the Peoples Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress, on Thursday.

Amatey, who is also the Director General, Governance Accountability Forum, said this while speaking in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday.
