CRS Commissioner For Health Calls For Sustainable Health Care Financing To Decouple Health Sector From The Country’s Annual Budget

The National Chairman of the Nigeria Commissioners for Health Forum and Cross River state Commissioner for Health Dr Betta Edu, says there is need for a sustainable form of health care financing to decouple the health sector from the country’s annual budget.

Dr Edu who spoke during a two-day meeting of Nigeria’s Health Commissioner Forum held in Abuja, said the form, if considered and implemented, will be used to solve issues associated with the country’s health sector.

Edu also advocated for state governments to be given the opportunity to operate and finance their health care delivery systems.

Also speaking, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha who spoke on collaboration between the federal and state governments in moving the country’s health sector forward, also noted the need for effective engagement of the private sector.
