University Of Calabar Clarifies Issues Surrounding Purported Hike In Fees

The Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration of the University of Calabar, Prof. Michael Okom, has described the purported hike in fees as an increase in some charges for services rendered in the Institution.

Prof Okom, who disclosed this in a telephone interview with our correspondent on Thursday, said the minimal charges were agreed upon at a meeting which had representatives from the Students’ Union Government, the Senate, and other stakeholders in the institution.

His comments follow recent complaints from some students of the institution.

Prof Okom, who stressed that representatives of the Student Union Government made some contributions at the request of the Vice Chancellor, added that those who are currently complaining may not be students of the institution.
