Civil servants in Cross River state protest 4 years of non-payment of salaries.

Some civil servants in Cross River State, on Wednesday, took over the Federal Secretariat gate in Calabar, for a peaceful protest over fours years of non payment of salary.
Speaking with our correspondent on the sidelines of the peaceful protest, the Coordinator of the protest,  Comrade David Iyandem said  despite the governor of the state releasing the sum of 10 million for their verification, the Head of service is yet to pay them their salary. Iyandem also said that they have exhausted every channel of negotiations, which is why they are out on the street protesting.

“we have been duely employed for four years, since far back 2018 and we go to work every day. Recently the head of service, told us that she was going to work on it, His Excellency in his benevolence, released the sum of 10 million for our verification, I don’t know what the head of service can explain to us but it is too much. we have fathers here, we have children here, we have mothers here. we can’t cater for ourselves, the promise keeps going on and on” he said.
Comrade Iyandem also said that the head of service even promised to pay August salary but turned out to be false hope.
“we are here to tell the world that we are suffering and we want the government to come to our aid because we were duly employed with appointment letters”
