The Governor of Cross River state Ben Ayade says the State Grazing Management Bill 2021, seeks to find solutions to the farmers – herders’ crisis, and not prohibit Open Rearing and Grazing of livestock in the state.
Governor Ayade said this in his office on Wednesday while speaking on the proposed bill, which provides the establishment of ranches for livestock in the State.
While urging Cross Riverians in the selected local government areas to respond truthfully, and also allow the enumerators to function professionally, the Commissioner noted that the new digital method will ensure that the exercise will be credible.
Meanwhile, sponsor of the Bill, which has been read a second time on the floor of the House, the member representing Ikom-two state constituency, Elvert Ayambem, while presenting the objectives of the bill, said it will promote modern techniques of Animal Husbandry, and “promote International best practices in the dairy and beef Industry”.
IN THE MEANTIME, a law to provide for the establishment ofthe State Disabilities Affairs Commission has passed second reading on the floor of the House of Assembly.
The Commission will seek to safeguard people with disabilities against all forms of discrimination, while providing them with equal opportunities in all aspects of human endeavors.
The Sponsor of the Disabilities Rights Commission bill and member representing Yala-one, Regina Anyogo, said the bill will promote multi-sectoral and multi-disciplinary collaboration that benefit persons with disabilities, and encourage networking among the civil society organizations.
