Asuu Strike: Nigerian Students Protest 12-Week Extension, Pledge To Block Federal Roads, Airports

The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, on Monday, May 9th, 2022, vowed to block all federal roads and airports in the country, to protest the 12-week extension of the strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities.

NANS President, Sunday Asefon, in a statement made available to journalists, condemned the inaction of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, over the industrial action which started on February 14, 2022.

Asefon also stated that students of public universities would disrupt primary elections and conventions by political parties, scheduled for May ending.

Meanwhile, some students of the University of Uyo noted that the extension would further extend their stay in school.

The students revealed this in separate interviews with our correspondent shortly after the announcement of the extension by ASUU.

The students also advised other students to get themselves busy during the period.
