WHO ARE YOU?

  • Omodot Jackson

People do not need your approval to hold an opinion of who they think you are. This is, however, suggestive of the fact that you reflect a part of your inward personality, whether consciously or unconsciously. This does not entirely reflect our reality, though. Howbeit, a part of what glows or glooms on the inside is often reflected outside. Hence the creation of a mental picture in the eyes of those who see us and relate with us.

The power to control what perception of ourselves we send outside is ours to wield. The undertone in this is the application of care in thoughts and actions, but the big question is, HOW CAREFUL CAN WE BE? Can you escape the fireballs that people will spit at you anytime you make the wrong move? Can you stay without flaws? Is there even a need to change?

In a conversation with one of my mentors, we talked about how result can stop (cure) insult. He said: If they say you are mad, learn to behave like a sane person and it will become obvious that you are not mad. Let criticism propel you to succeed and not dampen your spirit.

From the aforementioned, it is already clear to see that the wiring of your behaviour can cause a stir in your personality. Perhaps, people would not create mental perceptions of who they think you are if you did not exist at all! Even at that, people would still imagine a world with your kind of person in it.

WHO ARE YOU? CAN YOU CHANGE WHO PEOPLE THINK YOU ARE? CHANGE!

Behaviour is a tool for change through actions or inactions. However, certain elements stand out in the quest for change: AWARENESS & ACCEPTANCE.

You can never change a man who is unaware of his flaws hence, the first element to changing the man that you are letting people see is being aware of who that man is. It cannot be that easy, you know. There are times when you feel it does not matter what people think of you. In that regard, YOU DO NOT CARE! Trust me, being aware but failing to accept the need to change will lead to a repetition of the same behavioural patterns.

CHANGE CAN CREATE AWARENESS AND AWARENESS CAN CREATE CHANGE. IT IS A SOLE REACTION THAT DEPENDS SOLELY ON YOUR DESIRE TO DO WELL.

If you wait for change to cause you to be aware, the consequence may be disastrous.
There is therefore the need for the desire to live well. The aftereffect here would be that there would be a transfer of positive opinion to the minds of people around you, who may be direct or indirect recipients of your actions or inactions.

SELAH!
