In a bid to bring health care closer to the rural communities, the management of Lafarge Africa has denoted a health post to the people of Abiati community, in Akamkpa Local government area of the state.

Speaking in Abiati on Tuesday, the Regional Manager, Communication and Public Affairs, Lafarge Operation South East, Inyang Bassey, said the health post is part of Lafarge’s corporate social responsibility.

He further urged the locals in the community to take advantage of the facility whenever they have health issues, as he assured them that the state government will deploy health, who will be there permanently.

Also speaking, the state commissioner of health Dr. Janet Ekpeyong, eulogized Lafarge for the kind gesture, as they have been supportive to the state.

She added that a functional health system is not just the responsibility of government but that of everyone, and Lafarge over the years has been a dependable organization, by bridging the gap of access to health care and availability of care.

Speaking in separate interviews with our correspondent, some locals of Abi-ati community thanked the management of Lafarge, for the health post.

They also promised to protect the facility, as it has come to alleviate their suffering of accessing adequate health care.
