The Executive Chairman of the Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, Stephen Odey, has charged media organizations to always uphold the integrity of their profession.

Speaking in Calabar on Tuesday at a press briefing held to mark his eight years as the board’s chairman, Odey said when he assumed office in 2015, he came for a rescue mission, and he is satisfied with the achievement the board has achieved during his reign, as SUBEB chairman.

He added that when the public tend to speak ill of the board, media houses should be the ones to correct the false news, by disseminating accurate information about SUBEB and how it operates.

While highlighting some projects the board embarked upon under his watch, the SUBEB Boss said they were able to establishe three boarding schools in the three senatorial districts, one in Yala, Abi and Akpabuyo.

He also said in terms of employment, the board employed a total of 2 thousand 864 teachers, and as such, the state should applaud Governor Ben Ayade, for taking basic education as his priority.
